A typical credit scoring project first entails a focused fact-finding mission to consider the resources, constraints, assumptions and other factors that should be considered in determining the project goal and plan. SBI may then provide overall project management or serve as a key advisor to a client’s scoring team. Data Collection and Preparation SBI helps clients make the best use of their credit data and where necessary helps to build the data collection infrastructure for future scorecard development. By working with risk management and MIS departments, SBI identifies the data available within existing systems that is applicable and relevant to credit scorecard development. By getting familiar with the data, we help our clients address data quality and segmentation concerns earlier. Model Development and Evaluation SBI combines state of the art analytics and SME lending expertise to help clients identify data patterns within the available data. The goal of this effort is to design an assessment tool that helps lenders make better decisions faster. Various modeling techniques are selected and applied and their parameters are calibrated to optimal values. Typically, there are several techniques for the same problem and clients may suggest new approaches given their system or target market approach. SBI has experience in both expert and statistical scorecard development. Deployment Creation of the model is generally not the end of the project. Even if the purpose of the model is to increase knowledge of the data, the knowledge gained will need to be organized and presented in a way that is useful for our clients. SBI has helped clients design and develop simple excel based delivery platforms and more complex intranet based delivery systems. In many cases, SBI works with the customer’s in-house or preferred IT vendor to carry out the deployment steps.
