New Approaches to Financial Services Delivery
SBI is in the business of innovation, by virtue of the challenging and complex emerging markets environments in which it operates. Whether the objective is to ensure rural access to finance in a country with no existing banking system – like Afghanistan – or to introduce mortgage finance in a country with no history of individual ownership (see SOA, below), SBI has at its core an emphasis on development and application of flexible, responsive approaches to local market realities.

New Approaches to Financial Services Delivery
In many emerging market environments, existing institutions are not ready to enter new markets, or roll-out new financial service models. In these environments, injections of capital and technical know-how in new, Greenfield financial institutions can be an effective approach. By “modeling” new products and approaches, these institutions can catalyze the local financial services industry and serve as a “market leader” for expanded financial services delivery.

The Partnership Approach
SBI emphasizes the importance of partnerships and collaboration in all aspects of its international business. This approach strives to bring to the same table local knowledge, capacity, and capital to effectively address development challenges on a sustainable basis.
